Our social contribution to protect environment environment includes the river purification project "A.Cure," an environmental education program for elementary school children "Green Classroom," and the environment-friendly agricultural products purchase project.
With the social welfare "Hope Maker" program,we are financially and emotionally supporting 450 children and teenagers inside and outside of Korea (150 children in Korea, 300 children in other countries), helping the neglected class of young people together with social welfare institutions across the world.

Representing these eco-friendly social contributions, all of our domestic work sites are engaged in protecting the local ecology through A.cure, a project that protects and restores local river eco-systems. 'Green Class' encourages our employees to regularly visit local elementary schools for environmental education.
We also help the distribution of local communities' agricultural products by supporting the purchase of environmentally-friendly agricultural products.
As the green wave spreads through SK Chemical’s entire business, we have plans for environmentally-friendly activities that contribute to society.
With our support program for neglected social members, SK Chemicals is establishing a culture of social sharing and contribution. Through the Hope Maker project, we support 150 children and youth together with local social welfare institutions in Korea. Our employees also participate in the Hope Relay program, acting as supporters, mentors, and friends of local children and youth who need attention and aid, in the form of continuous financial assistance as well as regular visits and friendship. With donations from employees, the company also established a matching amount of funding to provide emergency medical relief where needed. In addition, the company runs a wide range of interactive social service programs in partnership with local social and charity organizations. We encourage our employees to regularly engage in volunteer activities in local social welfare communities as well as make financial donations.
SK Chemicals supports the dreams and hopes of not only the Korean youth, but also the youth abroad. Employees regularly donate to Compassion, an international child aid organization, to support over 300 children in poor countries. Also, SK Chemicals establishes wells in Kenya to bring clean water closer to home for people who are always thirsty. In 2012, the Company allotted 28 million won to dig three wells in the Kenyan towns of Tarasa, Wachuoda, and Selieh. These wells provide over 7,300 tons of drinkable water for over 4,000 people, thereby significantly improving the locals’ health and quality of life. The Company intends to dig more SK Happiness Wells in Kenya in the future.
For senior citizens’ welfare, SK Chemicals has been funding and supporting the Silver Theater, a social enterprise in Seoul. The Silver Theater runs classic films for senior citizens, and is becoming a leading venue for culture and entertainment for the elderly. Through other social welfare activities including the Happiness Sharing Kimchi-making event and the Winter Charity Bazaar, SK Chemicals is dedicated to fulfilling its social responsibility by caring for society’s less fortunate and helping local communities.
SK Chemicals' Spreading Happiness Project largely consists of two programs. Through the SK Pro bono program, our employees with expertise or professional backgrounds volunteer to share their experience and knowledge with social enterprises and organizations.
Our company also provides continued support for young people with artistic talent. The first recipient was the young pianist Son Yeol-eum. Also, through G.rium Hall concerts, we offer cultural experiences for low-income people.
