Indication(s)·Usage

Benign prostatic hyperplasia
- - alleviate symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia
- - mitigate degeneration of the thickening prostate and improve urine flow
- - reduce incidences of acute urinary retention
- - reduce need of surgeries such as transurethral resection of the prostate, prostatectomy, etc.

Dosage and administration

Orally administer 50 mg of finasteride once daily without regard to meals.
- - Although early improvement in symptoms may be seen, treatment for at least 6 months may be necessary.
- - Patients with renal failure Based on the pharmacokinetics, there was no change in the administration of this drug, so no dose adjustment is necessary in patients with renal failure (creatinine clearances as low as 9 mL/min).
- - Elderly: No dose adjustment is necessary although pharmacokinetic studies have shown that the excretion of this drug is slightly decreased in patients 70 years of age and older.
