- CEO Lee In-seok donates cash to the Hope Maker, matching the amount of
money employees spent on purchasing coffee.
- The White Day event marks a key feature of SK chemicals’ efforts to support the
local community.
A surprise event organized by SK chemicals and its CEOs delighted the employees and the local community.
CEO Lee In-seok of the Life Science Business Division of SK chemicals led the surprise event entitled “It’s On Your CEO” in the café on the ground floor of EcoLab, SK chemicals’ headquarters.
“It’s On Your CEO” is an event that was organized for the first time last year to improve the solidarity of the organization by offering free coffee drinks to employees. The event became an official part of SK chemicals’ corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaign on Valentine’s Day this year. with the CEOs donating funds to the Hope Maker, where the amounts matched the ones spent by SK Chemical employees on purchasing coffee both in its headquarters and in its branch offices.
This year, CEO Lee In-seok of the Life Science Business Division took over the precedent set by CEO Lee Mun-seok of the Green Chemical Business Division last year, becoming a barista for a day and serving drinks to employees himself.
Manager Baek Du-hyeon of the Human Resources Team took part in the day’s event and commented, “I was pleasantly surprised by the usually hard-to-access CEO’s active involvement in the situation. It was a great way to share the fun and good work and communicate with the top management.”
SK chemicals plans to provide an increasingly wider range of events and programs to promote communication and solidarity between employees and the top management.
A spokesperson for the company emphasized, “We have come to organize the White Day event, inspired by and expanding upon a similar event that was held on Valentine’s Day. We are working hard to develop new programs and events that will motivate the employees and the board members to participate together, with greater willingness and fun, in a variety of meaningful works.”
The Hope Maker is a leading CSR program of SK chemicals that leads employees and board members to donate part of their income to the youth at local orphanages and student welfare centers, while also visiting these places and engaging the young residents in various fun activities.
