● SK Chemical Assists Medical Cost of Patients with Congenital Tooth Disorders
“Health Keeper No. 2”
- Congenital tooth disorders affecting the jaw and even shoulders…
“The high cost being obstacle to get treatment
- Not to lose hope because of health problem … Expected resolution of medical blind spot
SK Chemical (CEO Moon-suk Lee) disclosed on October 2, 2013 that it provided financial assistance for the medical costs of a child who was suffering from a congenital tooth disorder.
This donation was a part of the “Hope Maker Health Keeper,” which is a social contribution program that the company initiated in April. The program provides assistance for families who are socially vulnerable and who may not receive the needed medical surgery or treatment due to economic problems.
For SK Chemical’s first case, the company paid for the medical costs of a student with cerebral palsy from Woojin School. SK Chemical then selected an elementary school student in Osan as the next case. The patient was born without two bottom teeth. Although the teeth must be implanted and adjusted, the treatment was never provided because of high cost. As a result, the child had a problem with jaw joint, which caused the shoulder to gradually bend. This child urgently required treatment.
SK Chemical will pay for the cost of the child’s tooth treatment which will be carried out in stages at Ajou University Hospital over the next three years.“Because I didn’t have the necessary teeth, I had problems with my jaw and shoulders. I am so happy that the treatment will allow me to finally have a healthy body,” said the student who will be receiving assistance with the medical costs.
SK Chemical plans to continue the “Health Keeper” program to help families who are socially isolated to enjoy a healthy life. One SK Chemical personnel said, “We will continue providing children and vulnerable social groups with the opportunity to receive the required medical treatments that they need, so that they do not have to suffer from deteriorating health problems just because they do not have the means to pay for their medical expenses.”
