An unexpected gift was delivered to Yang Jeong-ho, a staff member at SK chemicals’ Ulsan Plant who has a child taking the College Scholastic Aptitude Test (CSAT) for school year 2014.
The Company gave Yang’s family a message of encouragement together with a gift of rice cake wishing for “best results” on the CSAT.
SK chemicals President Lee Moon-suk said on November 7 that the gifts are to encourage staff members who have children taking the CSAT, as well as more than 60 teenagers in the local community that the Company is supporting through its Hope Maker program.
SK chemicals’ annual campaign to cheer up CSAT takers, now in its 11th year, has offered gifts of encouragement to a total of more than 800 children of company members since the event started in 2002.
Notably, ahead of this year’s CSAT, rice cakes were offered to teenagers in the local community in sisterhood relationship with the Company, as well as families of company members, adding to the meaning of the event.
A Company official said, “We have organized the event with the mindset that company members and children in sisterhood relationship are all members of the same family,” adding, “We hope that they achieve their goals by displaying the best of the knowledge they have built up over the years.”
Company members who received the gift say they are highly encouraged by the surprise present.
Yang Jeong-ho, a staff member at the Ulsan Plant who has a child taking this year’s CSAT, said, “As the CSAT nears, parents become just as nervous and anxious as the test-takers, and the Company’s consideration is highly encouraging.”
Meanwhile, SK chemicals is conducting diverse corporate culture programs, including executives’ tours to workplaces across the nation, humanities lectures and classical concerts for company members, and a Valentine’s Day event in which the CEO offers beverages to all staff.
