A domestic company has garnered attention for conducting the unusual program of inviting job candidates to participate in mutual exchanges with senior employees.
SK chemicals announced on the 23rd of this month that candidates who applied for the H1 2015 open recruitment were invited to the "Let’s Go, Eco Lab!" event at the Eco Lab offices and research laboratories in Pangyo.
The "Let`s Go, Eco Lab!" event was conceived to provide 100 of the many open recruitment candidates with a personal approach to gain direct insight into how the company operates.
An SK chemicals official stated, "While many companies visit schools to give corporate presentations, it`s rare for a company to hold events in which potential candidates are invited to experience what it`s like to work for that company." He continued, "We decided to hold this event to enhance the mutual understanding of prospective employees and management and provide real answers to questions that applicants may have about SK chemicals."
The event consisted of a briefing about SK chemicals, a tour of the main facilities, and an open discussion with senior employees.
Perhaps not surprisingly, the participants were most interested in the discussion with senior employees. SK chemicals arranged for groups of ten applicants to meet with one senior employee so there were sufficient opportunities for open and frank dialogue.
Applicant Jong-hyeok Ryu (age 23) said, "Whenever I`ve had questions about a company to which I`m applying, I usually had to resort to Internet searches for answers. Through this event, however, I was able to gain in-depth information through discussions with HR Human Resources representatives and members of the relevant departments. My preference for SK chemicals has increased after listening to their company’s direction and vision."
SK chemicals will continue to deliver accurate information about the company and jobs and secure appropriate personnel through active communication with job candidates.
A member of the SK chemicals’ HR team said, "Providing an opportunity for candidates and the company to get to know each other better is invaluable in selecting the most suitable employees for the company`s direction and culture instead of making a decision based solely on qualifications. We will continue to disclose our company`s direction, corporate culture, and desired abilities in our pursuit of people that are best suited to continue the corporate growth and ethos of SK chemicals."
SK chemicals secures talented personnel through various recruitment routes including internships and academic scholarships. New employees for R&D and marketing are being hired through this recently held open recruitment event.
