SK Group Homepage launched March 23 the Chinese version of its corporate website (www.sk.com.cn). SK felt there was a need for one because it has a big presence in China, with many offices throughout the country. The new site will be used a corporate PR tool to better serve its current Chinese as well as potential clients. The launch of SK.com.cn is significant because while it retains the overall design of the Korean (www.sk.co.kr) and English (www.sk.com) sites, it is customized for its own clients. This is the result of conducting extensive research to decipher customers?specific needs. In order to accurately portray on the Internet SK position as Korea fourth largest conglomerate and show unity among SK member companies, it developed Korea first Web Style Guide Book.? All SK companies must comply with the style guide when they are either updating or newly launching their site. This conformity is apparent in SK.com (launched in October 2000), the recently revamped SK.co.kr (March 2001), and the new SK.com.cn. SK Group plans to launch its Japanese site in the near future.
