SK chemicals won patent rights for the polymerization technology on SKYGREEN PETG in Japan and the U.S.. This is an especially meaningful event in that the Company’s originality in the polymerization technology of co-polyester was recognized in those countries where the polyester-related source technology was developed.Considering the fact that the worldwide network of patent rights wielded by Eastman Chemical in the PETG market used to enjoy a state of monopoly, the event means having secured an area of independence for marketing and sales of SK chemicals’ SKYGREEN PETG and being able to compete with others on an equal footing. The said patent right was won and registered (Reg. No. 3209336) in Japan on July 13, 2001. We were informed that judging for registration of patent right for the same in the U.S. was successfully completed in October 2001 and that it is scheduled to be registered in January 2002 in the U.S. following the specified procedure at the U.S. Patent Office.
