Indication(s)·Usage
    • - short-term treatment of gastric & duodenal ulcers
    • - treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) (heartburn, vomiting etc.)
    • - maintenance therapy for severe reflux esophagitis and intractable peptic ulcers
    • - Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
    • - concomitant antibiotic therapy to prevent recurrence of duodenal ulcers infected with Helicobacter pylori
    • - treat gastric and duodenal ulcers or erosions caused by administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID)
    • - prophylaxis of gastric and duodenal ulcer or erosion or prevention of dyspeptic symptoms caused by administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) in patients with a history of long-term NSAID administration due to gastric duodenal lesions
    • - preventing recurrence of reflux esophagitis

Dosage and administration

    • Adults
    • 1. Gastric ulcers: Orally administer omeprazole 20 mg once daily.
      In most patients healing occurs within four weeks, but the healing period may vary depending on the patient. If the patient is not cured after the initial four weeks of administration, proceed with the same treatment method for another four weeks.
      In patients with inadequate response to other therapies, 40 mg once daily is recommended and healing is usually achieved within 8 weeks, but the healing period may vary depending on the patient.
      Treatment may be repeated if symptoms recur.

    • 2. Short term treatment of duodenal ulcers: Orally administer 20 mg once daily. In most patients healing occurs within two weeks, but the healing period may vary depending on the patient. If the patient is not cured after the initial four weeks of administration, proceed with the same treatment method for another two weeks. In patients with inadequate response to other therapies, 40 mg once daily is recommended and healing is usually achieved within four weeks, but the healing period may vary depending on the patient. Treatment may be repeated if symptoms recur.

    • 3.Treatment of reflux esophagitis and symptoms of Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD):
      • - Reflux esophagitis: Orally administer 20 mg once daily. In most patients healing occurs within four weeks, but the healing period may vary depending on the patient. If the patient is not cured after the initial four weeks of administration, proceed with the same treatment method for another four weeks. In patients with inadequate response to other therapies, 40 mg once daily is recommended and healing is usually achieved within 8 weeks, but the healing period may vary depending on the patient. Treatment may be repeated if symptoms recur.
      • - Treatment of reflux esophagitis and symptoms of Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD): Orally administer 20 mg once daily. In general, healing occurs if administered for two to four weeks.

    • 4.Maintenance therapy for severe reflux esophagitis and intractable peptic ulcers: Orally administer 20 mg once daily. The dose can be increased to 40 mg once daily for a recurrence.

    • 5.Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: Orally administer 60 mg of the initial dose once daily.
      The dose should be individually adjusted. More than 90% of the patients benefit from a dose of 20 to 120 mg daily. If more than 80 mg is administered daily, the dose is administered in twice daily divided doses.

    • 6.Antibiotics combination therapy for preventing recurrence of duodenal ulcer infected by Helicobacter pylori:
      Dual therapy: Co-administer 20 mg of this drug and 750 to 1,000 mg of amoxicillin each twice daily for two weeks.
      Triple therapy: In combination with the following antibiotics, 40 mg of this drug is administered once daily or 20 mg is administered twice daily.
      ① clarithromycin 250 mg metronidazole 400 mg, each twice daily for one week,
      ② amoxicillin 1 g clarithromycin 500 mg, each twice daily for one week.
      If the therapeutic effect is not sufficient, continue monotherapy with omeprazole.

    • 7.Treatment of gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer or erosion caused by administration of NSAID:
      Orally administer 20 mg once daily. In most patients healing occurs within four weeks, but the healing period may vary depending on the patient. For patients who have not been cured during the initial 4-week treatment course, full healing usually occurs during the additional 4-week treatment period.

    • 8.Prevention of gastric, duodenal ulcer or erosion and the symptoms of dyspepsia in patients who have long term administration of NSAID with history of stomach, duodenal disease:
      Orally administer 20 mg once daily.

    • 9.Preventing recurrence of reflux esophagitis: Administer 10 mg orally once daily for recurrence prevention of reflux esophagitis.

    * This drug should be swallowed with more than half a glass of water.
    The dose may be adjusted depending on the patient’s age and symptoms.
