Dosage and administration

- Adults
  Orally administer donepezil hydrochloride 5 mg once daily beforebedtime. Since the concentration of donepezil reaches a steady state 15 days after administration and the frequency of adverse reactions can be affected by the rate of dose increase, 5 mg dose should be administered for four to six weeks. Following a clinical assessment of treatment at 5 mg daily, the dose can be increased to 10 mg daily. If the dose is increased to 10 mg daily, administer it while being careful about adverse reactions in the digestive system. Upon discontinuation of treatment, a gradual abatement of the beneficial effects of this drug is seen and there is no rebound effect due to abrupt discontinuation of administration. This drug as orodispersible tablets should be placed on the tongue and allowed to dissolve before swallowing with or without water.
- Low body weight female patients over 85 years of age
  Since there are many adverse reactions, careful monitoring is required. In elderly low body weight women, the total daily dose should not exceed 5 mg.
- pediatric use
  There is no clinical experience for use in pediatric patients.
