The signing ceremony, which was held at SK?s head office in Seoul, was attended by Xia deren, Mayor of Dalian, and Xing liang zhong, Deputy Mayor of the northeastern Chinese city, as well as Hong Ji-ho, president of SK chemicals. Dongda Environment Engineering Co., Ltd. in Dalian is a leader in the environment protection field in Dalian, and Tianbang national engineering research center of menbrane technology Co., Ltd is an affiliate of the Chinese Academy of Science, while SK chemicals boasts world-class expertise in wastewater reprocessing. By making the most of their respective talents, the three companies will jointly invest a total of $150 million in the construction of facilities for urban sewage treatment and the reuse of heavy water. In addition, SK chemicals will relocate its plant for the production of water-reprocessing equipment in Korea to Dalian, where it plans to build a large-scale plant equipment production base. Xia deren, Mayor of Dalian City, said that Dalian Dongda Environment Engineering Co., Ltd. and Tianbang national engineering research center of menbrane technology Co., Ltd are leading players in environmental protection in the Chinese city, while SK chemicals is a conglomerate with a worldwide reputation as a market leader. If the three parties join forces to push for this new project, they will make a great contribution to the development of the city?s environment protection industry, he said. He also vowed to provide unsparing support in ensuring the project?s seamless implementation. SK chemicals said the company will actively cooperate with Dalian City in a wide array of projects to encompass energy, petrochemical, pharmaceuticals and logistics, taking this project as the starting point.
