The accumulated production quantity of pre-filled syringe type of vaccine, which is a modern vaccine type, of SK chemicals(CEO, vice chairman, Chang-Geun Kim) has broken through 10 million ones on August 20.
The [pre-filled syringe vaccine] is ‘a vaccine of the type that medicines are directly charged in the syringe’, an advanced country type of vaccine usable safely without using an antiseptic.
The Osan plant producing vaccines of SK chemicals succeeded in producing a pre-filled syringe type of influenza vaccines, adult Td vaccines and DPT vaccines for the first time in Korea in 2005, and succeeded in selling a pre-filled syringe type of HIB vaccines(merchandise name of meningitis prevention vaccine: FirstHib) in 2007, in order to lead the supply of the state-of-the-art vaccine into domestic markets.
SK chemicals recorded an accumulated production quantity of 10 million vaccines as of August 20, 2007 following the production of 3 million vaccines in 2005 and 5 million vaccines in 2006, and is currently making all vaccines, which are produced by SK chemicals such as Japanese encephalitis vaccine, hepatitis vaccine, etc. as well as Td vaccine, DPT vaccine, 4 kinds of influenza vaccines, etc., a pre-filled syringe type.
A pre-filled syringe type maintains accurate inoculation quantity and minimizes contamination by microorganisms, so as to enable accurate and sanitary inoculation. Besides, this has convenient advantages almost without a process of preparing for injection compared with liquid phase or frozen dry vial type, so as to be favorably commented upon by both of inoculated patients and medical specialists.
A row array of 10 million pre-filled syringes produced by SK chemicals so far equals the length of the Gyeongeui line railroad between Busan and Sineuiju(945km) by reaching a total length of 970km.
In-Seok Lee, marketing headquarter manger of SK chemicals, said, “pre-filled syringe vaccines has led the sales growth of SK Chemical vaccines last year” and “SK chemicals will be maintaining the lead in domestic vaccine fields through sales of cervical cancer prevention vaccine[Gardasil], etc. currently under preparation following the meningitis prevention vaccine[FirstHib] shown in the market in July 2007.”

Influenza vaccine
