Only SK chemicals (CEO/Vice Chairman, Chang-Geun Kim) won two awards in the pharmaceuticals category at the awards ceremony held at Hotel Shilla on November 2.

Korea Customer Trust Representative Brand 2007, a brand-awarding system based on the customers’ brand trust, is sponsored by the Korea Brand Management Association. Gallup Korea and Hankook Research conducted two customer surveys for two months.
Notably, the first survey was conducted by Gallup Korea, which is famous for its high level of local public trust, while the second survey was conducted by Korea Research using individual interviews with over 1,000 customers, securing the fairness of the survey.
In the blood circulation improvement system category, Ginexin-F, a circulation improvement medicine made from extract of green ginkgo biloba leaves, was selected with 40.5% of the support.
In the patch-type arthritis treatment category, Trast patch, the world’s first patch formulation for the treatment of arthritis, proved to be the best trusted brand, winning 45.8% of the customers’ trust.
Through constant brand management, SK Chemical won a total of six brand awards including the [Best Hit Commodity Selection], [Grand Award for 2007 Korea Master Brand], [Highest Brand of the Year 2007], and [Grand Award of the Year 2007].
As a good brand ensures stable and long-term demand, value addition that attracts more customers, considerable margin reinforcement, and changes in the distribution systems, more importance is placed on brand management.
Also, since the brand is emphasized as one of the major criteria for evaluating an enterprise’s value, brand-based management has appeared as a core strategy. Hence, customers buy the brand, not the product, thereby acquiring experience of a specific brand.
Seung-Gwon Shin, CEO at the life science division of SK chemicals, anticipated that, “In the future, Brand Discrimination is going to be more important than Medicinal Discrimination among commodities due to the technology development between competitors.” He also emphasized, “On the first of November, we launched Mvix, an erectile dysfunction treatment. We will transform it into a Global Power Brand by strengthening and developing its brand power through strategic brand management.”
