SK chemicals Ulsan Plant gave warm presents to needy neighbors during the year-end holiday season.
SK chemicals Ulsan Plant (plant manager Hwang Chun-hyeon) announced on November 30 that they had donated the ‘Rice of Love’ to senior citizens living alone and welfare recipients in the sister village at Pyeong-dong, Daesong-ri, Seosaeng-myeon, Ulju-gun, Ulsan on November 29.
The ‘Rice of Love’ donation event was started by the employees of SK chemicals Ulsan Plant in 2011 and has been continued for six consecutive years to share ‘love and happiness’ with the needy neighbors in the Pyeong-dong Village, its sister village. It has become the representative winter-time social contribution activity of the Ulsan Plant.
Present in the Pyeong-dong Village community center where the ceremony was held were employees of SK chemicals, including plant manager Hwang Chun-hyeon, and villagers, including Choo Bu-yong, head of the Pyeong-dong Village, and members of the youth council and the women’s club.
“It is a good case of exchange and cooperation between a sister village and the company,” said Mr. Hwang Chun-hyeon. “We will continue to take the lead in practicing ‘Happy Management’ through various social contribution activities for the needy neighbors.”
“The Rice of Love will greatly help the needy neighbors during this cold winter,” said Mr. Choo Bu-yong, head of the Pyeong-dong Village, who received 50 bags of ‘Rice of Love’ on behalf of villagers. “I’d like to express my gratitude to employees of SK chemicals for their assistance to the local community.”
SK chemicals Ulsan Plant has continuously donated rice and daily necessities to the elderly living alone and welfare recipients in the Geonam Village, with which the company established sister relations back in 2009. In addition, SK chemicals Ulsan Plant is contributing to the local community through various social contribution activities, e.g., providing a helping hand in the busy farming season for sister villages, and operating the ‘Hope Maker’ program that sponsors local children from the low-income bracket.
