● SK chemicals-SK Gas Held '2018 Hope Maker Workshop' SK chemicals has embarked upon upgrading its social contribution activities.
SK chemicals announced on March 20th that it held a workshop aimed at making upgrades in 'Hope Maker', a companywide social contribution program that the company has carried out in collaboration with Hansol Comprehensive Social Welfare Center (director: Buddhist Monk Gaseop), Jungtap Comprehensive Welfare Center (director: Kim Jong-woo), and Ulsan Nam-gu Comprehensive Social Welfare Center (director" Oh Se-geol). Hope Maker is SK chemicals' flagship social contribution program that has been continuously implemented for seven years since 2017.
At the workshop, SK chemicals presented its achievements for the past seven years and discussed its 2018 plan for Hope Maker with the representatives of the social welfare centers. Each of the social welfare centers made a presentation on its own 2018 programs along with ideas for new programs that it wanted to share with SK chemicals.
In terms of ideas for new programs, Jungtap Welfare Center proposed an after-school mentoring program for children who are willing to join after-school programs but cannot due to economic reasons; Hansol Welfare Center suggested having a large-scale field day participated by SK staffers and the children and adolescents being empowered by Hope Maker; and Ulsan Nam-gu Welfare Center introduced its youth soccer classes and its multicultural children's baseball team and proposed linking them to SK's Hope Maker program.
Kim Jong-woo, the director of Jungtap Welfare Center said, "While proceeding with the Hope Maker program with SK chemicals for the eighth year, I've been always impressed with the company's wholehearted support." He went on to say, "We will make every effort to help the young with even more useful programs."
"Economic support is important. Yet what’s more important is making sure that the children and adolescents we support grow into excellent members of society through our continuous emotional support," said Lee Gwang-seok, SK chemicals' executive director and secretary general of social contributions. "We will implement 'Hope Maker 2.0,' an upgraded version that reflects the needs of beneficiaries more carefully to offer them customized assistance programs.
SK chemicals and SK Gas have joined forces to run the Hope Maker program that supports a total of 220 children and adolescents in partnership with 15 social welfare centers across the country. Most notably, the latest workshop was participated by the invited representatives of the welfare centers for which SK chemicals and SK Gas extend support to more than 30 beneficiaries respectively. The workshop thus was able to deal with the development of new programs as well as the welfare centers' suggestions related to their daily operations. SK chemicals and SK Gas are planning to launch an upgraded version of the Hope Maker program entitled 'Hope Maker 2.0'.
