● SK bioscience, launched pre-filled syringe zoster vaccine
- Formulation changed from a vial to pre-filled syringe - Improved inoculation convenience
- Convenience like back stop, Luer lock™, etc. - considering inoculation safetyA Zoster vaccine, SKY Zoster, has begun to expand its market with new formulations providing even greater convenience and safety of inoculation.
SK bioscience announced on the 21st the launch of a new vaccine called 'SKY Zoster Inj', a zoster vaccine in the form of prefilled syringes.
The newly introduced prefilled syringe SKY Zoster eliminates the hassle of formulating conventional vials (glass bottle for injection) that mix water for injection and freeze-dried vaccine and then transfer them back to the syringe. The prefilled syringe formulation is already filled with a syringe of water for injection and can reduce one step before the administration compared to conventional vial formulations.
The new formulation of the SKY Zoster also features two functions on the syringe's exterior to improve the safety of vaccination.
A plastic protector called a "back-stop" is placed on the syringe handle to make smaller syringes easier to hold and to prevent syringes from slipping from hands during an injection. It introduced the "Luer-lock" system with a twist and turn for secure needle placement and prevent needle disengagement and medication leakage.
Prefilled syringe formulations are increasingly used worldwide due to their greater convenience, precise dosing, and prevention of contamination that can occur with conventional ampules and vial formulations during the preparation for injection.
SK bioscience plans to expand the market by providing the convenience of vaccine administration and safety to the healthcare staff through this change in formulation.
SK bioscience CEO Jae-yongAhn said, "We will upgrade our product with continuous R & D to compete with the world." and "The new SKY Zoster formulationheralds another advancement in medical care and services."
