SK chemicals and SK gas announced on the 18th that they held “2019 Happiness Up Hope Go”, an end-of-the-year event for young people and their families at Hope Maker Eco Lab, the headquarters of SK chemicals, located in Pangyo, Seongnam City.
This fun end-of-the-year party was attended by 220 people including Hope Maker children and their families in Seongnam, members of SK chemicals and SK gas, and guests from local welfare centers.
At the event, SK chemicals prepared a special B-boy performance and Christmas gifts for children sponsored by Hope Maker. These Hope Maker Winter Kits were delivered to families and senior citizens in the region to add to their holiday cheer and warm tidings.
Each Winter Kit from SK chemicals, SK gas, and SK D&D members included 10 winter items such as heating pads, hand warmers, hot packs, and homemade meals.
In return for the gifts of SK members, Hope Maker teenagers expressed their appreciation to the members by showing them well-prepared dance, ukulele, and Samulnori performances that they had learned during the year.
Lee Kwang-seok, Director of Social Contribution, SK chemicals, said, “We’ve been holding this end-of-the-year party for seven consecutive years hoping that children, teenagers, and their families would feel warm in winter,” and added, "We will continue to carry out social contribution activities sponsored by Hope Maker to allow even more exchanges between our employees and people in the community to share love and happiness”.
The Hope Maker program, where each team in the company is matched one-on-one with a local teenager, sponsors these individuals until they reach adulthood. Since 2012, 220 local teenagers have benefited from the social contribution programs of SK chemicals and SK gas.
SK chemicals is operating a systematic support program for students sponsored by Hope Maker. Starting in 2018, the company launched a Hope Maker School for Ulsan teenagers sponsored by the headquarters, a tailor-made program for each grade level that investigates the interests of elementary, secondary, and high school students and provides specialized learning programs in art and physical education, and courses in establishing character values and identity, career education, and mentoring.
SK chemicals conducts additional social contribution activities nationwide to create a sustainable society through its “eco-friendly,” “social welfare,” and “spreading happiness” programs, which include the provision of free meals, lunch delivery for senior citizens, new employee volunteer activities, environmental education at elementary schools, and river clean-up activities, in conjunction with 12 local welfare centers.
