Amid restrictions on company events due to COVID-19, SK chemicals attracted industry attention with their “Untact (non-contact) New Year Kick-off Meeting.”
SK chemicals (CEO: Kwang-Hyun Jeon) held the “untact” meeting for New Year kickoff on the 4th to celebrate the new year.
The meeting was conducted online by broadcasting the video of New Year greetings and business plan announcements made by SK chemicals CEO Kwang-hyun Jeon, SK bioscience CEO Jae-yong Ahn, and SK plasma CEO Yoon-ho Kim.
Through the New Year interview, CEO Kwang-Hyun Jeon gave his analysis, stating that “Despite the unprecedented disaster of COVID-19, SK chemicals achieved meaningful financial results,” and made the request to “create the opportunity for a quantum jump, and stressed the importance of gaining a competitive edge through improvements in the business portfolio, optimizing operations, and making innovations in work methods.”
To this end, tasks selected as goals for 2021 in the field of chemical materials were △expansion and successful settlement of copolyester facilities and △discovery of new businesses centered on biopolyol PO3G and recycle solution. In the pharmaceutical biofield, the company plans to focus on △the successful IPO of subsidiary SK bioscience, △the successful self-development and consignment manufacturing of COVID-19 vaccines, and △the establishment of mid- to long-term growth strategies for pharmaceutical businesses such as specialty drugs and blood products.
At the same time, SK chemicals will continue to invest in expanding IT infrastructure and innovating work methods to flexibly respond to rapidly changing business environments while sustaining efforts to secure the areas of environment, safety, and transparency to practice ESG management.
CEO Kwang-Hyun Jeon said, “Even in the situation of COVID-19, we were able to achieve meaningful results because of the trust, cooperation, and dedication of our members,” and “Please work together so that 2021 marks the beginning of another period of strong growth for the company and its members.”
About planning the New Year kick-off meeting non-face-to-face, Director Bae Hyuk of the corporate culture office said, “We are sorry for the situation where all members cannot have time to discuss their aspirations for the year and make decisions together,” and that “We hope that the direction in which the company must move and the determination to do so will be communicated to each member through the online ceremony where management goals and plans will be shared directly by the CEO.”
