Smart Key is an online pharmaceutical information platform developed by SK chemicals as it becomes difficult to transmit medical information in the traditional way between pharmaceutical companies and the medical community due to COVID-19. All of users’ activities are collected as points and points are donated to the charity foundation under the name of SK chemicals and used only as support funds for children with leukemia.
The donation of 10 million Korean won, secured through the activities of 3,000 users over a year, is expected to be used through the foundation for leukemia patients who urgently need surgery and treatment.
Seo Seon-won, the secretary general of the Korea Childhood Leukemia Foundation, said, "Currently, approximately 1,400 children are diagnosed with pediatric cancer every year in Korea, and despite the high cure rate of over 80% with appropriate treatment, they continue to suffer the economic consequences. The interest and sincerity of companies such as SK chemicals is an important base for children to grow up healthy.”
SK chemicals plans to continue strengthening social contribution activities through the platform’s increased activities. This is not just a one-time donation.
An SK chemical official said, "This donation is meaningful in that the voluntary participation of health care professionals using the platform leads to support for patients. We are committed to providing people with convenient access to current and highly relevant information in keeping with our sharing philosophy.” Smart Key can be accessed through the website ( www.smart-key.co.kr ), and contains △online academic symposium broadcasting and replays for health care professionals △drug information △medical products and medical related academic materials and it also enables two-way communication between doctors and pharmaceutical company representatives through the E-talk function.
The company explained, “After the onset of COVID 19, the communication method between the pharmaceutical and medical fields has undergone a major change. We are pursuing various methods of enhancing the exchange of information between information providers and users, so everyone has access at the right time, free from physical and time constraints.”
