A very unique joint donation activity involving a company and a local community is getting a lot of attention as the onset of winter looms and the season of sharing our love begins.
SK chemicals (Man-hun Park, President) announced on the 12th that SK chemicals donated 3 tons of “Love Rice” to Andong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, where L House, its vaccine factory, is located, in honor of SKYCellflu’s successful market release. SKYCellflu, Korea’s first cell-culture influenza vaccine, was launched last August.
The number of cumulative order/sales of single doses (1 dose = 1 vaccination) hit 3 million during the first 2 months of sales. SK chemicals carefully planned this sharing activity, which returns the rewards of a successful outcome to society and to widely promote the image of Andong, a bio industry mecca.
This activity will give away 3 tons of rice that was planted, raised, and harvested on a 9,900㎡ field located in Angyo-ri, Pungsan-eup, Andong-si, to the less fortunate in the community.
Prior to this, SK chemicals cultivated rice, the syringe shape symbolizes SKYCellflu’s single dose containers and the color embodies Andong, the heart of the bio industry, from last spring.
Not only did Andong-si actively help SK chemicals grow the rice to support this activity, but it also wholeheartedly participated in distributing the donated rice to low-income families and the less fortunate in the community.
SK chemicals and Andong-si held a donation ceremony on the 12th, in the presence of Young-sae GWEON, Mayor of Andong, and Hong-Kyun Lee, General Manager of SK chemicals Andong Factory, and committed to a strong cooperative relationship in the future.
Mayor KWEON said at the ceremony, “This will be a great model of coexistence of local governments and corporations now that corporate social responsibilities are called for.” He also added, “With this opportunity, we will boost the area’s social mood and demonstrate that corporate growth coincides with local communities’ happiness.”
General Manager Lee said, “This is our way of returning our gratitude to society for SKYCellflu’s successful establishment in the market.” He also said, “We hope that this small sharing of love can result in something big for those less fortunate in our community.”
