SK chemicals said on March 24 that it received the President of KHIDI Citation at the 71st regular general meeting of the Korea Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (KPMA) held at KPMA in Bangbae-dong, Seoul.
Citations were awarded to companies which contributed to the development of the pharmaceutical and bio industries and to the enhancement of national health. SK chemicals was recognized for its contribution to the enhancement of national health by developing various premium vaccines, including Korea`s first cell culture–based trivalent influenza vaccine, and for actively promoting disease prevention to the public.
SK chemicals selected the premium vaccine as its new growth engine back in 2008 and since then has built various vaccine pipelines in an effort to shift the paradigm in a market dependent on imported drugs.
“SK chemicals’ efforts to enhance the national health through vaccines are recognized,” said Kang Gil-soo, Head of Life Science Biz Marketing Plan Team 2 at SK chemicals, who received the citation. “We will make continued efforts to help our new vaccines successfully take a firm root in the market”.
SK chemicals successfully developed Sunpla, the first new drug in Korea, JOINS, the first natural drug in Korea, Trast, the world’s first patch-type arthritis drug, and MVIX S, the world’s first film-type PDE5 inhibitor for erectile dysfunction. The company is capitalizing on its R&D expertise and experience to develop bio medicines with global competitiveness.
