SK chemicals gives “hope and warm love” to the youths it sponsors.
SK chemicals announced on February 22 that it provided school uniforms to 32 freshmen entering middle and high school among the “Hope Maker” youths sponsored by the HQ and its business operations around the country.
“Hope Maker” is SK chemicals’ representative social contribution activity that supports children until graduation from high school. SK chemicals entered into an MOU in 2012 with 14 community welfare centers in regions where its business operations are located, and has since been supporting 160 teenagers every year. The school uniforms the company provided to 87 freshmen in middle and high schools during the past three years are valued at KRW25 million.
“I felt sorry watching the students worrying about the cost of school uniforms rather than being excited about going to school,” said a welfare center insider. “I am glad that I can congratulate them on going to middle or high school and, thanks to SK chemicals, start a new semester without their families having to worry about the burden of buying school uniforms.”
In addition, SK chemicals is operating the “Campus Tour of Hope” program where SK Sunny college volunteers visit universities every year and provide career counseling to help students sponsored by the “Hope Maker” program.
The members of the teams work 1:1 with sponsored students to provide mentoring on succeeding in their academic endeavors and planning successful careers. Of the students sponsored by the “Hope Maker” program so far, 30 have attended college.
“We are providing school uniforms to freshmen in middle and high schools and notebooks to freshmen in college every year,” said Bae Hyeok, head of the Corporate Culture Office of SK chemicals. “We are planning to continuously support them so that they can devote themselves to their studies, and grow into talented, contributing, and successful members of Korean society.”
SK chemicals is reinforcing financial and material support to give hope to those in need in local communities and promote the healthy growth of children and youths.
