● New Recruits of SK chemicals Participate in "Happiness Sharing" Volunteer Activity
SK chemicals' newly hired workers set out a community volunteer activity as part of their on-the-job training program.
The company said on January 24 that its new recruits who joined the firm in 2019 spent time in Hansol Social Welfare Center in Seongnam where the company headquarters is located.
By being divided into four groups, the rookies undertook volunteer activities in the daycare center for Alzheimer's patients, the local children's center, elderly home cleaning work, and the like.
The daycare center for Alzheimer's patients provides education, treatment, and rehabilitation services for the elderly patients during daytime. The new employees of SK chemicals held a music class for the patients. A group of them played outdoor sports with children who visited the local children's center during the winter vacation. Some of the recruits also paid a visit to the home of senior citizens who live alone to clean their kitchen sinks and bathrooms.Kim Ye-ri, a female member of the new recruits who will join the company's finance team, said, "Even though it was such a short time, it was a really rewarding opportunity for me as I can see how the senior citizens and children enjoy our presence. I will keep taking part in volunteer programs even after I get assigned to the team and deliver happiness to as many people as possible."
Lee Gwang-seok, head of SK chemicals' CSR office, said, "We at SK chemicals take human value seriously and hire people who possess good character as well as professional potential. We hope that the newly hired employees can learn the value of good-heartedness through the CSR activities."
SK chemicals has made a variety of social contributions including free lunches for senior citizens (in cafeterias and through delivery), environment education for elementary schoolchildren, river cleanup projects, and the like to create a more environmentally friendly, happier, and more sustainable world, in partnership with 14 local community welfare centers across the country.
Since last year, the company has added "Hope Maker School," a custom-tailored program for teenagers including tutoring, career counseling, and mentoring, to the company's flagship CRS program "Hope Maker." End
