SK bioscience (CEO Ahn Jae-yong) announced that the company won the Andong Mayor's Award in recognition of its diverse support activities for local children and teenagers at the 25th anniversary ceremony held in the Andong Social Welfare Center in Andong, Gyeongbuk province on the 29th.
Since establishing the L-House, a vaccine factory in Andong, Gyeongbuk province, SK bioscience has been engaged in social contribution activities to help residents in the neighborhoods in connection with social welfare centers.
In the eight years since 2012, L-House has provided support for children and teenagers who are eligible for the program in the form of monthly education expenses, annual scholarships, and holiday gifts, school uniforms, and winter goods.
In particular, the company has been encouraging its members' continued interest in the local community and regular support by introducing Hope Maker, a social contribution program that realizes the social values of SK.
Hope Maker activities support local children and teenagers until they graduate from high school, and L House members voluntarily deliver monthly donations and participate in various activities to help their emotional growth. They are also offering Hope Maker School, which provides students with individual academic support, career counseling, and mentoring.
Lee Sang-kyun, the head of L-House factory of SK bioscience, said, “We have made continuous and consistent social contribution activities to promote shared growth with our local neighbors," and he added, “We will continue to be a company that contributes to social value creation with the local community in the future.”
SK bioscience is a new vaccine company that was spun off from SK chemicals in July last year. The company has internally developed vaccines, such as SKYCellflu, the first cell-cultured trivalent influenza vaccine in Korea, SKYCellflu Quadrivalent, the world's first cell-cultured quadrivalent influenza vaccine, SKY Zoster, the world's second herpes zoster vaccine, and SKY Varicella, the second varicella vaccine developed in Korea.
