SK chemicals＇ social contribution program has been certified by the Ministry of Education.
SK chemicals received the Ministry of Education＇s certification (2019-002) at the “The 8th Korea Education Donation Fair 2019” held on the 23rd at KINTEX in recognition of its contribution to environmental education. This is the first time that SK chemicals has received an education-related social contribution certification. The certification period is for three years.

, which started in 2012, is the company＇s major education CSR program to communicate the meaning and importance of the environment to elementary school students near the workplaces and to practice environmental awareness in everyday life. Over the past eight years, 7,720 elementary school students have taken part in the highly student-rated programs.
SK chemicals’ utilizes a storytelling type textbook in which ＇Detective Green,’ the main character in the game, protects the Earth＇s environment through environmentally friendly solutions, and fights villains that cause air and sea pollution. The secret to the program’s popularity is that the story is made into a board game that can be enjoyed by teenagers at home.
Kim Sung-woo, head of the PR team at SK chemicals, said, “SK chemicals’ is designed to help elementary school students understand the importance of the environment in the process of solving tasks in a game,” and he stressed, "How this program differs from others is that it increases the interest and understanding of the environment through games, to generate both fun and learning elements at the same time.”
Organized by the Ministry of Education and hosted by the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity, the Korea Education Donation Grand Award selects institutions and individuals with excellent track records of donations to educational institutions, to spread the culture of donations in the educational field by honoring institutions and individuals who contribute to the promotion of donations to educational institutions and boost the morale of all related institutions.
In addition to eco-friendly education, SK chemicals is conducting other social contribution activities to create a sustainable society through its eco-friendly, social welfare, and spreading happiness programs which provide free meals, lunch delivery for senior citizens, and river clean-up activities, through 14 local welfare centers nationwide.
Since last year, the company＇s signature social contribution program, "Hope Maker School" has been receiving great acclaim for introducing a customized program that reflects the opinions of individual teenagers for enhanced academic support, career counseling and mentoring.
