- Actively responded to changes in foreign marketing paradigm arising from the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak
SK chemicals strengthens “untact (non-contact) marketing” to expand foreign markets.
SK chemicals (CEO: Kwang-Hyun Jeon) announced on the 18th that it will host the <'2020 Online Technology Seminar> for foreign subsidiaries and agencies in the Americas and Europe.
Foreign technology seminars of B2B companies are typically conducted in the format of in-person sales meetings. However, to counter the current situation where face-to-face marketing activities are not possible with COVID-19, many domestic and foreign companies have recently responded to the changing marketing environment by expanding their online “untact marketing” activities such as and .
In particular, the Americas and the EU are regions that SK chemicals will pay special attention to in the Untact Technology Seminar. These strategic regions have shown a 45% increase in exports of “SKYGREEN (PETG)” for quarantine equipment and packaging (packaging materials) despite the prolonged COVID-19 outbreak.
SK chemicals plans to further strengthen its market competitiveness through technical support for foreign subsidiaries and agencies in the Americas and the EU, as well as revitalizing local online business of its new leading brands, ECOZEN and ECOTRIA.
SK chemicals ECOZEN is a highly heat-resistant transparent material containing 1 to 15% biomaterials. It is used for cosmetics, sports drink bottles, sheets, and films. ECOTRIA, which acquired Global Recycled Standard (GRS) certification, is a highly transparent material for cosmetic containers made from recycled PET bottles. GRS certification is a global eco-friendly certification that displays the amount of recycled raw materials contained in the finished product. The Control Union evaluates and judges the entire production process. ECOTRIA contains 30% of Post Consumer Resin (PCR).
SK chemicals plans to expand contact points with foreign customers and discover new global business opportunities with ECOZEN and ECOTRIA.
Won-Jae Yoon, PL of SK chemicals' Copolyester Division who planned the Untact Seminar, said, “Many export companies are working to secure new local marketing methods to deal with this unexpected and prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.” He added, “This online technology seminar will be a good alternative to expand contact points with foreign customers and strengthen networking in the safety of non-face-to-face situations.”
Meanwhile, while the performances of major Korean chemical material companies have shown mixed results depending on their strategies to respond to COVID-19, SK chemicals plans to complete the expansion of copolyester production facilities at the end of June 2021 in preparation for the expansion of the eco-friendly plastic market. SK chemicals achieved record-high quarterly results due to the exceptional sales of quarantine and packaging materials, and following the strong performance of the copolyester business.
