● SK Chemcials Launches First Food Processor Made of Bio Plastics in Korea“Now cook without having to worry about bisphenol A”
- HausElec applies bisphenol A–free Ecozen to its new products
- High chemical resistance — “No need to worry about odor and stains after long-term use”
A food processor, made of environment-friendly bio plastic Ecozen, will be introduced to the Korean market for the first time.
SK chemicals (CEO Kim Cheol) announced that kitchen appliance maker HausElec (CEO Yoo Sang-hee) would release V Tokebi, a food processor made of environmentally-friendly Ecozen, through a home shopping channel on April 5.
A food processor is a kitchen appliance that provides various culinary functions, such as kneading, slicing and mincing. The V Tokebi`s food material bowl is made of environment-friendly material Ecozen.
Ecozen is a bio-plastic made of a mixture of raw materials extracted from plants. The V Tokebi will mark the first time a bio-plastic has been applied to a food processor in Korea.
HausElec chose Ecozen as a core material because it does not contain bisphenol A, which is known as an endocrine disruptor.
“As consumers’ interest in endocrine disruptors has increased since the use of plastics containing bisphenol A in milk bottles was banned, an increasing number of customers are looking for products made with environmentally-friendly materials,” said HausElec. “Because Ecozen not only contains no bisphenol A but also has various other properties suitable for kitchen appliances, adopting it as a material in our new models was an easy choice.”
Ecozen`s excellent chemical resistance was also an important factor in its selection.
As Ecozen has better resistance to chemical stimuli than other plastic materials, it is less likely to be saturated with odors or discolored, even if spices, fatty foods, or highly acidic foods like kimchi are stored in it for a long time.
It also boasts high impact strength and can withstand intense use.
SK chemicals is planning to take advantage of the environmental-friendliness of Ecozen to actively make inroads into the kitchen appliance market.
"Home appliance manufacturers are increasingly interested in environmentally-friendly materials,” said an SK chemicals insider. “We are planning to continue the boom in environmentally-friendly materials in the kitchen appliance market by developing materials with diverse uses.”
V Tokebi`s large bowl (1.25 liters) makes it easy to mince together a large amount of ingredients at once, including meat, while its AI sensor controls RPMs depending on use, allowing it to delicately mince condiments like garlic, ginger, onions and chili peppers.
Ecozen is scheduled to be introduced to the market on Hyundai Home Shopping at 1:40 p.m. on April 5. For more details, please visit the HausElec website (http://www.hauselec.com).
