  A.cure

  A.cure is made from two words: aqua, meaning water, and cure, meaning treatment. It is a volunteer activity to protect water resources and create a pleasant ecological space. We are carrying out this river cleanup activity in Unjungcheon Stream in Pangyo and Yeocheon Stream and Cheoyongam Rock in Usan to protect the ecosystem.

  Happy Green School

  Happy Green School is an environment education program for children, and it is a social contribution activity in which our employees directly participate as guest speakers at nearby elementary schools to provide eco-friendly education tailored to children. We are helping elementary school students understand the importance of environment in an easy and fun way by using customized textbooks and board games. Happy Green School has been run since 2012 to teach the importance of environment protection and raise environmental awareness. In 2019, it was certified as an excellent educational donation institution (No. 2019-002) by the Ministry of Education in recognition of its excellence in providing environmental education.

  Support for the purchase of eco-friendly organic products

  Since 2005, we have encouraged our employees to purchase eco-friendly organic products for the purpose of building trust for urban-rural-co-prosperity and supporting advanced distribution network projects, thereby promoting the conversion to eco-friendly farms and increases in farm income.

• 04.

  Myanmar Cookstove

  Cookstove is a stove-type cooking tool made of cement that increases thermal efficiency to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and firewood use, while reducing cooking time. SK chemicals is contributing to improving the quality of life and income of Myanmar people who are suffering from lack of electricity or gas supply through the cookstove supply project, and also helping create jobs and revitalize the local economy through local production, distribution, and management of the cookstoves. The Cookstove project is being carried out with SK Group, the Climate Change Center (an NGO), and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Myanmar. SK chemicals plans to supply 18,000 cookstoves every year for five years to residents in dry areas such as Sagaing, Mandalay, and Mageo, located in central and northern Myanmar, which is expected to have an effect equal to planting 6.83 million pine trees every year in terms of reducing the use of firewood as well as greenhouse gas emissions.

SK chemicals is making efforts to build a socially engaging culture by supporting the welfare of underprivileged citizens.

  Hope Maker

  Hope Maker is a social welfare program that supports children and teenagers in low-income families and sponsors mentoring programs. Hope Maker is SK chemicals' representative social contribution program that has been in place since 2012. It sponsors economic and cultural activities for 150 children and teenagers in 11 social welfare institutions across the country. It also promotes the employees’ volunteer activities in welfare institutions. In addition, “Hope Maker School,” which focuses on career education and mentoring of students, continues to provide step-by-step and systematic career education and consulting for students in each grade of elementary, middle, and high school.

  Silver Movie Theater

  Since 2009, SK chemicals has been supporting "Silver Movie Theater," the first theater dedicated to senior citizens. Silver Movie Theater is Korea’s first social enterprise in culture and arts where people aged 55 or older can enjoy old movies at a low price (2,000 won). SK chemicals is committed to promoting leisure activities and expanding cultural space for the elderly. In addition, the “Silver Cinema in Your Town” event was held in Seongnam City to show performances and movies, contributing to the improvement of cultural accessibility of senior citizens in areas with low cultural/welfare benefits.

SK chemicals Volunteers Group actively participates in volunteer activities in connection with local organizations to recognize and solve social problems.

  Volunteering Activities

  SK chemicals formed “SK chemical Volunteers Group” in 2004 to fulfill its mission as a corporate citizen, and all of the members are participating in volunteer programs in the community. SK chemical Volunteers Group consists of volunteer teams in each business site such as Seongnam, Ulsan, Cheongju, and Andong, and the CEO of the company serves as the head of the volunteer group. SK chemical Volunteers Group participates in types of volunteer work, such as family, in-house, educational, and effort activities, according to the characteristics and needs of each business site.

  We support the growth of social enterprises that lack talents in marketing/labor/business support areas through volunteer activities that utilize the expertise held by the members.
